Does the Easter Bunny come to your house? He does ours and I am busy getting last minute basket items and fillers for eggs.
At our house the Easter Bunny doesn’t put treats in the kid’s baskets, only the eggs. The baskets are usually filled with items such as pajamas, books, crafts and outside activities for the spring and summer.
I have mentioned we don’t restrict anything from our kids, just try to give them the best quality. With that said, they do get some treats in their eggs, although not all eggs are filled with edible items.
Items other than candy to consider adding to your eggs:
- Coins (who doesn’t love money?!)
- Movie tickets
- Tattoos
- Bandaids
- Stickers
- Toy cars
- Erasers
- Bracelets
- Necklaces
- Bath bombs
- Socks
- Legos
For the edible fillers, we opt to choose the best quality treats we can. A lot of candy on the market is filled with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), artificial dyes / colorings, artificial flavors and a bunch of other chemical junk!
Here are some of our favorite brands:
- Justins
- Unreal
- YumEarth
- Smart Sweets
- Wholesome Surf Sweets
- Little Secrets
- Made Good
- Annies
- Veggie Gos
**other ideas not pictured: energy balls / bites, trail mix, dried fruit, gum
Overall when I am looking for candy options, I always opt for dark chocolate if it is available, over milk or white chocolate and definitely no HFCS or artificial dyes, colors, flavorings.
What are your favorite things to fill Easter eggs with? Always looking for more ideas.
